Press Statement on LAW360 Article dated August 10, 2022

London, UK; September 1, 2022 – Trumont is aware of a biased and mis-leading article on the Law360 website, published on August 10, 2022, regarding the on-going legal proceedings initiated by Trumont against LevertonHelm (Holdings) Ltd (“Leverton”) as well as David Hicks and Jacqueline Hicks regarding non-payment of a substantial debt owed to Trumont by Leverton and Mr. and Mrs. Hicks.

The Law360 article is potentially misleading in that it simply repeats the contents of Leverton’s Defence to Trumont’s claim.   Furthermore, this article was published while litigation is still sub-judice.

Trumont notes that Ronan Barnard, the journalist who authored this one-sided article, does not possess any academic or practical training in English law either at university or with a law firm.  Mr. Barnard’s Master’s degrees are in Russian Studies and English Literature.

The version of events presented in the Law360 article is strongly denied by Trumont and its Managing Director, Komail Thaver, whose own account is set out in Trumont’s Particulars of Claim and Reply. Those documents are available via His Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service (“HMCTS”) using the claim number given above.

During our engagement, Trumont delivered quality strategic advice and consistently acted in our clients’ best interests.

Trumont’s preference would have been to resolve this matter in private and without recourse to legal proceedings. Unfortunately, that was not possible. For obvious reasons, Trumont has not previously commented on this matter to date.

Trumont does not intend to comment further at this time whilst proceedings are on-going, save to note that it is confident that its claim will be successful in due course.
